How to Get an iPhone Photo Under 2 MB

An upload form that says “maximum 2 MB” cares about the final file, not just the picture’s pixel count. There is no single quality setting that makes every photo fit. A detailed scene may need a smaller width as well as stronger compression.

Start with the dimensions

Open the photo in the Image Resizer. If the form gives a required width or height, use that exact value and keep Keep aspect ratio selected. If it gives only a size limit, try a width such as 1600 pixels first. Download the result and check its size.

Next, open the resized image in the Image Compressor. Choose JPG for a normal photograph or WebP if the destination accepts it. Lower Quality gradually and watch the original and output sizes shown beside Download image. Save the result once it is safely below the limit, then inspect faces, text, and fine edges at normal viewing size.

If the photo began as HEIC, the image tool can open it, but the downloaded copy must be JPG, PNG, or WebP. Check which formats the receiving site accepts. The Image Converter is useful when you need to choose the output format first.

When the number will not fall

The compressor does not have an automatic “make this 2 MB” button. Try a smaller width and export again. A PNG quality slider will not help because PNG export is lossless. For screenshots with sharp text, a JPG may look worse than a PNG even if it is smaller, so inspect the result rather than relying on the size alone.
